comment “Cinq pièces” is “five bucks”? Are there other slang terms for money?
I've been living in Québec province for a while now, and I've never heard the use of the word pièce to designate a dollar.

comment Usage of spacing between punctuation marks
From what I could get, in Québec one types a thin space or no space at all. (bdl.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/bdl/gabarit_bdl.asp?id=2039)

comment Are Francophones in general adopting this English swearword?
@jlliagre Yeah, I guess it is region-dependant!

comment Abbreviation of “Instant messaging”
I guess they had to come up with a word for chat because, well there is another meaning for chat (you know, the cat), and when you read it, sentences do not make sense. And we like here to have "french" words for stuff that can have one so, it seems we came up with clavardage.

comment Are Francophones in general adopting this English swearword?
@jlliagre Not sure about your part of the world, but here kids could say \fɔk\, and when their parents tell them to stop saying that bad word they reply "Ben je parlais de l'animal, là!". So there is a phonetic similarity.

I don't think vachement is a swear word though. Well not in this part of the world at least!

comment Is there a distinction for the words “girl” and “daughter” besides from context?
Careful with the word always. The pimp says to the other pimp Pas touche, p'tit con, c'est ma fille. In this context it is really not in the daughter meaning of the word, but really as the girl meaning.

comment Are Francophones in general adopting this English swearword?
@Kareen Indeed, I was like that too. I was trying to illustrate in my answer that as I grew up, I kind of stop throwing these fucking as adverbs the way you describe. Your way of showing it is a bit clearer than mine.

@FumbleFingers Sorry I haven't been clear, I haven't seen the film you're talking about, so I'm talking about another film in my answer.

comment Learn French from music — resources?
IMHO, learning french from music is a really bad idea. Just like learning french from poems. This is because sometimes songs are composed from only parts of sentences, sometimes they're omitting words intentionally, or they use unusual words so that it fits with the music or because they want to give more than one meaning to the text. Bad idea.

comment How would you say “it has been”? Context: “It has been an inspiration to mountaineers.”

comment Is there more than one meaning to “l'œuf”?
The only thing I could see is that an egg might look like an eye, thus the link with the verbe voir, but it's otherwise unlikely one could analyze a painting based on text alone.

This question appears to be off-topic because it is about a reflection that can be achieved in any language and is not directly related to french.

comment Différence entre un sport et un travail ?
Est-ce que cette question concerne vraiment la langue française? Il me semble que c'est une question de philosophie, posée en français.
