On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Full elections have three phases and an optional fourth phase (Primary):

  1. Question Collection
  2. Nomination
  3. Primary
  4. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I am Tsundoku and I am nominating myself for this election. I have low reps on this site (currently 315) but I have been a moderator on Language Learning SE since October 2017 and on Literature SE since the end of April. I learnt French as a second language at school and I am currently mostly exposed to the language through literature. I currently live in Germany, i.e. in the same time zone as France.

Why me?

  • Previous moderator experience on two other SE sites.
  • I know what it is like to learn French as a foreign language.
  • I would invest time in rebuilding the French SE community. (Which is why I posted this meta question.)

Why not me?

  • I haven't been very active here. At the time of this nomination, I don't even have enough reps to become active in the review queues.
  • French is not the foreign language I know best; I'm more confident in English and German (and Dutch, which is my native language).

Hello / bonjour !

I'm nominating myself to moderate the French stack. I have active hands on experience moderating another stack, and would be thrilled to step up to the plate and lend a hand on French.SE!

I have a calm, relaxed personality, but years of counseling and moderation experience has lent me a perceptive eye for trouble brewing. For the over four years I have been on SE, the moderation side has always been my favourite!

I am in the Eastern time zone (GMT-4).

Hi, I'm Reyedy, 24 from France, and I apply to be your moderator.

I discovered French SE when it was in Beta, 3 years ago. Being a French language enthusiast since I was a kid, I always kept an eye on this place, even when I was not contributing. I found it to be an awesome display of people passionate about their language, and, through reading or answering questions, I kept learning and making progress myself.

Today, I would like to step up and do my part in leading this community.

Why me?

  • In my everyday job, I manage a team of developers. Being a fair and patient leader are necessary qualities if I am to be successful in my career.
  • I was always passionate about French language and I want to contribute as much as I can to its community.
  • I am willing to be active and put the necessary amount of effort to do my job as a moderator.
  • I am a French native, but I consider myself fluent in English as well. I do not think I will have any communication issue with fellow members.

Why not me?

  • I do not have a high reputation score and I came back at a good activity level only recently.

Many thanks for reading, and good luck to all candidates!

This election is over.
